In Clausen, by the river, the River House sits quiet before the guests arrive. The kitchen is ready. The bar is ready. The lights, the sound, the screen. Everything is set. Industrial walls. A chic finish. All under one roof.
Hadrien is the founder of Maison Bertrand. On paper, he runs wine events. More than 100 in two years. But the real job is different. He finds the right place for each client.
The River House belongs to Tero. Marcus runs it on the ground. Hadrien found it by chance. He was walking past. He pushed the door. He met Marcus. And he knew right away the place was for one of his clients.
That is his angle. A venue can be perfect for one client and wrong for another. The wine comes later. The food comes later. The first question is always the same. What energy is the client looking for?

SSY People think you sell wine. You say something else. What do you really do?
Hadrien I sell places. On paper, we do wine events. More than 100 in two years. But the real job is finding the right venue for each client. That is what changes everything.
SSY Why does the venue matter more than the wine?
Hadrien An event plays out in the first ten seconds. The client pushes the door. They know right away if the night will be good. You can have the best wine in the world. The best food. If the place has no soul, it falls flat.
SSY How do you find these places?
Hadrien I spend my life visiting them. I walk through Luxembourg. I push doors. The River House is a good example. I was walking past. I went in. I met Marcus. And I knew straight away. This place was for one of my clients.
SSY Who runs the River House?
Hadrien The place belongs to Tero. Marcus is the manager. He knows the room better than anyone. When you work with a venue, the person on the ground matters as much as the walls.
SSY So the same place is not right for everyone?
Hadrien Exactly. A venue can be perfect for one client and wrong for another. The real work is understanding what the client wants. Before we talk wine. Before we talk food. The question is always: what energy are they looking for?
SSY Tonight you have an event here for PwC. Why does the River House fit?

SSY What do you read in a client before you pick a place?
Hadrien The energy they want. Some want something formal. Some want something loose. Some want to impress. Some want to relax. You feel it fast when you listen. The venue is the answer to that question, not the start.
SSY What makes a place have soul?
Hadrien It is hard to put in words. You walk in and you feel it. The light. The materials. The way the room holds people. A place with soul makes the night happen on its own. A place without it, you have to push all evening.
SSY How would you sum up your real job?
Hadrien My job is not to serve wine. It is to find the place where the night remembers itself. The wine and the food matter. But the room is what people carry home.
